The spice must flow one last time. Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three, the third and final film in his adaptation of Frank Herbert’s saga, is heading to theaters on December 18, 2026, and the trailers have fans counting down. Watch below.
The conclusion to Villeneuve’s trilogy
Billed as the epic conclusion to the story, Dune: Part Three is adapted from Dune Messiah, Herbert’s 1969 sequel novel. It picks up Paul Atreides’ story after his rise to power, following the newly ascended Emperor as he faces a conspiracy that threatens his reign. Villeneuve, who directed and co-wrote all three films, has said this installment features a significant time jump of roughly 17 years after the events of Part Two.
Who’s returning
Timothée Chalamet returns as Paul Atreides, now the Padishah Emperor, with Zendaya back as Chani. The cast also includes Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Javier Bardem as Stilgar, Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck, and Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho. Anya Taylor-Joy, glimpsed briefly in Part Two, takes on a larger role as Alia Atreides, and Robert Pattinson joins the franchise as the villainous Tleilaxu Face Dancer, Scytale.

Dune: Part Three arrives in theaters and IMAX on December 18, 2026, from Warner Bros. and Legendary. After two films that together grossed more than a billion dollars worldwide, this one carries the weight of closing out one of the most acclaimed science-fiction sagas in recent memory. If the trailers are any indication, Villeneuve intends to go out with everything he’s got.
